BrainPaint Neurofeedback at BrainFit Studio

What is BrainPaint?

BrainPaint is a non-invasive neurofeedback system that helps your brain practice healthier patterns of regulation. During a session, small sensors placed on the scalp measure your brain’s electrical activity (EEG). That information is translated into real-time feedback—often through sounds or visuals—so the brain can observe its own activity and gradually learn to self-adjust.

Nothing is being sent into the brain. The sensors are read-only. Neurofeedback works by helping the brain recognize when it is moving toward more stable and efficient patterns, and over time, the brain tends to spend more time in those states.

What it does

BrainPaint neurofeedback is designed to support improvements in areas such as:

  • Attention and sustained focus

  • Emotional regulation and stress tolerance

  • Sleep quality and nervous system settling

  • Recovery from chronic hyperarousal

  • Self-control and reduced reactivity

The BrainPaint system includes software features that help guide training consistency and track progress over time. Sessions are adjusted based on how the nervous system responds rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

What a session looks like

A typical BrainPaint session includes:

  1. A brief check-in regarding sleep, stress, and symptoms

  2. Placement of EEG sensors (commonly 2–4 sensors with reference clips)

  3. A training period lasting approximately 20–40 minutes

  4. A short post-session check-in and protocol adjustment as needed

Most clients describe sessions as relaxing, mentally engaging, or calming, though experiences can vary depending on the protocol and the individual.

Conditions we commonly support

At BrainFit Studio, neurofeedback is used as part of an integrative care plan to support symptoms commonly associated with:

  • ADHD and attention difficulties

  • Anxiety and chronic stress

  • PTSD and trauma-related hyperarousal

  • Sleep disturbances and insomnia

  • Mood instability and irritability

  • Performance and focus optimization

Neurofeedback is not a quick fix. Like physical training or rehabilitation, it tends to work best when done consistently over time with individualized adjustments.

What the research shows

Neurofeedback has a growing research base, with the strongest evidence in areas such as ADHD and PTSD. Research suggests neurofeedback can help reduce symptoms in some individuals, while also noting that outcomes depend heavily on protocol quality, clinician expertise, and consistency of training.

Studies emphasize that neurofeedback should be delivered thoughtfully and as part of a broader clinical framework rather than as a stand-alone intervention.

FDA status

Neurofeedback systems in the United States fall under the category of biofeedback devices. Biofeedback devices are regulated medical devices intended to provide information that helps individuals learn to influence physiological activity, including brainwave activity.

Some EEG and biofeedback hardware used in neurofeedback systems are FDA-cleared for marketing for general biofeedback or relaxation purposes. This is different from FDA approval for treating specific medical or mental health conditions such as ADHD, PTSD, or anxiety.

At BrainFit Studio, neurofeedback is used as a behavioral training and self-regulation tool within an individualized care plan. It is not presented as a stand-alone, FDA-approved treatment for specific diagnoses.

Safety

Neurofeedback is non-invasive and does not deliver stimulation into the brain. Most individuals tolerate it well. Occasionally, people may experience temporary fatigue, mental overstimulation, or emotional activation if training parameters are too aggressive, which is why sessions are carefully adjusted and monitored.

Neurofeedback does not replace medical or psychiatric care. For individuals with seizure disorders or complex neurological conditions, additional screening and coordination are used.

Who it may be a good fit for

Neurofeedback may be a good fit for individuals who:

  • Want a skills-based, non-medication approach to regulation

  • Feel stuck in chronic stress, distractibility, or poor sleep

  • Want greater consistency in focus and emotional balance

  • Prefer measurable, training-oriented interventions
